I'm on the IMVU games team and we're just
beginning to look at the various forms games on IMVU might take. I
think most of you have been itching for games to happen for a long
time. Games are so intrinsically social and fun they have to be part of
the IMVU experience.
Games on IMVU could potentially take many forms. The only must-haves of
an IMVU games experience is that they're social and easy for developers
to iterate on and improve. Games can obviously happen in the
chat-client or in a web interface. They can either be something you buy
in the catalog and share with friends or they can be public spaces into
which you wander and meet new friends.
The games team would like to solicit your opinions and insights as we
begin to plan an initial implementation of games on IMVU. We would like
you to think as both a developer and as a user.
As a developer think about what you need to easily create/derive a game. What kind of monetization model would work?
As a user think about fun, compulsiveness, virulence. What kinds of
games would work well with the overall IMVU experience? What kinds of
games would you want to share with your friends or hang-out in for
hours?
Thanks and ...let's make great games!
